’98 lakh citizens got e-passport’

About 98.32 lakh people have got e-passport in the country where 72 passport offices are working to provide e-passport to the citizens, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

He said it while inaugurating the e-passport activities in Sweden Stockholm as 32 number mission in abroad of Bangladesh.

The home boss said currently in 64 districts about 72 passport offices are giving e-passport service.

As part of the mission in abroad, today (Thursday) 32 number mission is being inaugurated in Sweden Stockholm.

About 98.32 lakh e-passports were reached to people hand. In near future, e-passport facilities will be available in 80 foreign missions.

He said that e-passport service in Bangladeshis the result of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s digital Bangladesh. Bangladesh is moving forward with the modern world.

In order to consolidate the national position and status in keeping with the needs and developed countries, the Department of Immigration and Passports initiated the introduction and launch of e-passport.

The Home Minister said that E-Gate has been installed at the airport, which is the first in South Asia.

It is established in a small number of developed countries. Under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we will be able to start the e-visa program soon.

He said that in 2020, as promised by the Prime Minister, Bangladesh became the first country in South Asia to introduce e-passport.

In January of that year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the inauguration of the most modern e-passport in the world at Bangabandhu International Conference Center and said that e-passport is the gift of Mujib year to the people of Bangladesh.

He also said that expatriates are making an important contribution to the country’s economy by sending remittances to the country.

At the same time, he is working as a representative of Bangladesh abroad.

The government always strives to ensure that expatriates get timely and timely services. In continuation of this, e-passport services are being inaugurated in foreign missions.
