Two children drown in Netrakona

Two children were drowned into a pond at village Mongalshid under Atpara upazila of the district this morning.

Police sources said, the two victims were identified as Irfan, 7, son of Ibrahim Mia and Khadiza, 5, son of Mustafa Mia of the aforesaid village Mongalshid.

Quoting local people, officer-in-charge (OC) of Atpara upazila Uzzal Kanti Sarker told new nation that the tragedy took place when they were playing on the bank of a pond nearby their house premises and accidently slipped off the pond bank and drowned into the pond.

Later, local people recovered their floating bodies from the pond and send those to the Atpara upazila health complex where attending doctors declared them dead , he said.

Meanwhile, an unnatural death case was recorded with the Atpara police station in this connection, the OC added.
