Light to moderate rain with gusty wind likely

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over the country.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country”, said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours, reports BSS.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the forecast begins from 9am on Thursday.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extend up to North Bay.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded by 33.5 degree Celsius jointly at Sayedpur and Mongla while lowest temperature on Thursday was recorded by 23.7 degree Celsius at Kutubdia.

Country’s maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am on Thursday was recorded by 158 millimeters (mm) at Khepupara.
