‘Police performing duty professionally’

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Tuesday said that the police have been performing duty professionally and facing challenges on legal frame.

“As per the law, police perform their duties for maintaining law and order which is their legal responsibility,” the IGP told the journalists after visiting the ailing Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Habiganj Sadar Police Station Ajay Chandra Dev at the National Institute of Ophthalmology at Agargaon.

The IGP said the OC of Habiganj police station received serious injuries in his eyes by stones thrown by BNP activists while performing duty for maintaining law and order on August 19, 2023, reports BSS.

Denying BNP leaders’ statement about police, Abdullah Al Mamun said the police do not make political statements.
