Van stolen, drive injured

Armed miscreants attempted to kill van driver Abu Taleb (45) at Baraigram in Natore and robbed his battery-powered van.

The incident took place at Ramagari area of the upazila recently.

Abu Taleb is the son of deceased Abu Bakkar of Walia village of Lalpur upazila.

Locals rescued him unconscious and admitted him to Banpara Patwari General Hospital.

Later, when the condition worsened, he was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for admission.

Mabia Begum, the wife of the injured van driver, said that her husband Abu Taleb left for Ramagari with 4 male passengers at around 8 pm.

After reaching Ramagari road, the 4 miscreants tried to kill Abu Taleb by stabbing him in the throat and robbed the van.

When he tried to stop them, the miscreants hit him with a knife and fled quickly with the van.

Later the locals rescued him and brought him to the local hospital.

Banpara Patwari General Hospital Managing Director and Baraigram Upazila Parishad Chairman Dr. Siddiqur Rahman Patwari said that a knife injury to the throat can bring danger at any time.

He was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
