Python found in cork sheet box

A 10 feet long python was recovered from Ruhita village in coastal Patharghata upazila of Barguna district adjacent to Bihanga Island of the bay.

Zakir Munshi, a local wildlife activist, rescued the python from a cork sheet box preserved for packing netted fish at Ruhita Battala fish market around on Wednesday (August 16)noon.

Rescuer Zakir Munshi said on Wednesday morning when he went to Battala fish market at Ruhita, a local fish dealer Helal screamed in fear seeing the snake in the cork sheet box kept for fish storage.

Later, when Helal informed me, I quickly went to spot and finding the python rescuing it informed the forest department.

Zakir Munshi also said, he has rescued more than one and fifty pythons before and released those in various forests including Sundarbans.

Officer of Tengra Bit of Forest Department Mohidur Rahman said, he heard the news of the rescue of the python. It will be released in Sundarbans.
