Death toll from Ashulia kitchen fire rises to two

A man, who suffered burn injuries in an explosion due to the gas line leakage in Ashulia area of the capital, died on Friday at a hospital while undergoing treatment.

Now the death toll from this incident rose to two.

Nazrul Islam, 34, breathed his last while being treated at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka on Friday, said Tariqul Islam, resident surgeon of the institute, adding that, 45 per cent of Nazrul’s body was burnt in the fire.

On August 12, a fire broke out at a kitchen of a tin-shed house in Ashulia’s Dhamsona Union, leaving six people injured.

Among them, Sabina Yeasmin, 40, died on Thursday. She suffered burns on 50 per cent of her body.

Four others injured have been receiving treatment at the burns institute.

Among them, Sadequl suffered burns on 50 per cent of his body, Hashem 45 per cent, Kamala Begum 20 pe cent and Mohsin 10 per cent.
