Nat’l Mourning Day observed

The National Mourning Day and 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed here with due respect and solemnity on Tuesday.
Netrakona District Administration, different socio-cultural rganisations, political parties including Awami League, professional groups and educational institutions chalked out various programmes to observe the day.
The day’s programmes started with hoisting of national flags at half-mast atop of all the public and private buildings across the district and placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Cetonar Batighar on the Netrakona DC office premises here in the morning.
At first, State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru formally placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
Later, he was followed by Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP, deputy Commissioner Shahed Parvez, Chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, Police Super Foyaz Ahmed, Mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, Chairman of Netrakona sader upazila Ataur Rahman Manik, public representatives, Awami League leaders and leaders of different socio-cultural organisations and professional groups and people from all walks of life.
A discussion meeting on “life and ideals of Bangabandhu” was held at local public hall here in the mourning under the auspices of Netrakona district administration.
Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru addressed the meeting as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Shahed Parvez in the chair.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP,Chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad, Mayor of Netrakona municipality and General Secretary of Netrakona district Awami League Advocate Shamsur Rahman Liton.
BSS from Khulna reports: Various government, semi-government, autonomousbodies, socio-cultural and voluntary organisations and educational institutions here Tuesday day observed the National Mourning Day and 48th martydomanniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner.
Khulna City and District units of Bangladesh Awami League and its front-organisations and different other political parties also observed variousprogrammes marking the day.
The day began through hoisting of national flag at half-mast in allgovernment, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings.
Government and semi-government organisations placed wreaths at the monumentof Bangabandhu on Khulna Deputy Commissioner Office premises around 8am.
Mourning rally has brought out in the city followed by discussion meeting, Doa Mahfil.
Freedom Fighters, government high officials and leaders of civil society, among others, also placed wreaths at the monument of Bangabandhu at the sameplace.
Distribution of food among the destitute and screening of film on life andworks of Bangabandhu and special milad mahfils and prayers at all religiousinstitutions were also held.
Besides, competitions on painting, essay writing, one-minute videodocumentary on ‘Amar Chokhe Bangabandhu,’ (Bangabandhu in my eyes), discussions focusing the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahmanand national history were arranged in the educational institutions and otherplaces.
Khulna District Administration organised a discussion meeting whileDirectorate of Youth Development distributed prize among the winners of essay, Art, video documentation and Poem recitation competition anddistributed cheques among freedom fighters at Khulna Shilpakala AcademyAuditorium.
BSS from Gaibandha adds: National Mourning Day and the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman was observed in the district Tuesday with due respect and solemnity.
The day was observed with a fresh vow to materialize the dreams of Bangabandhu to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ and the farsighted vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and to bring back the fugitive convicted killers of Bangabandhu to execute verdict of the murder case.
