No threat of terrorist attack marking Aug 15: DMP

Staff Reporter :
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruq has said that there is no threat of terrorist attack marking the National Mourning Day on August 15.

Strict security has been beefed up in the capital ahead of National Mourning Day and we are on alert, the commissioner told journalists after visiting Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi Road 32, Dhaka on Monday.

The nation is set to observe the National Mourning Day and 48th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today with due respect and solemnity.

Bangabandhu and most of his family members were brutally killed by some disgruntled army men on the night of August 15, 1975 and this carnage is touted as the ugliest chapter of the nation’s history.

Apart from Bangabandhu and his wife Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Mujib, 26 other people including their family members and relatives were also killed that night, according to AL website.
