The country’s first elevated expressway will be formally inaugurated on September 2.
On the occasion of the inauguration, the ruling Awami League will hold a large public meeting in the capital on that day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told this at the Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) meeting at Ganabhaban on Saturday.
She said several mega projects would be launched soon before the next general election.
The Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) is 46.73 km, including 19.73 km of main elevated portion, and 31 ramps having 27 km long in and out route for vehicles.
The project cost is estimated at Tk 8,940 crore. Of the total cost, Tk 2,413 crore will be provided by the Bangladesh government.
The expressway will cover Kawla, Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur, Sayedabad, Jatrabari to Qutubkhali on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
