Nine arrested militants put on 5-day remand each

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain of Dhaka CMM Court passed the remand order after Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Sub-Inspector Shahjada Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mamun produced the nine accused seeking their 10 days’ remand in the interest of investigation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) was conducting a raid in the remote hilly area under Kulaura Police Station of Moulivibazar suspecting it to be a militant hideout.

The operation has been named “Operation Hillside”, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Faruk Hossain said. “It is being handled by the CTTC and Swat teams,” the DC added.

The accused people are- Md Hafizullah, Rafiul, Shariful Islam, Khairul Islam, Sanjida Khatun, Maisha Islam, Amena, Habiba Binte Shariful and Fahrad Hossain alias Shipon. Of the nine accused Farhad was arrested from Mirpur in the capital.

Besides, the court sent more two accused people to the jail.

They are- Shapla and Meghla Akter. Accused Shapla’s lactating one and a half year old daughter and five-year old son, and accused Meghla’s one-year old lactating daughter accompanied their mothers.

It has been learnt that the accused belong to the militant group “Imam Mahmund’s Kafela.”
