Under Narendra Modi and his BJP, it’s a communal India all along

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP government have all along let down the minorities in India especially the Muslims whom their ideological mentor, RSS, habitually sees as ‘invaders’ or at best ‘outsiders’.

One after another group of minorities, be they religious or ethnic ones, is being targeted for systematic violence.

When the ethnic-communal violence in the northern state of Manipur has yet to die down, the minority Muslims have become victims of the ire of the BJP men in Nuh and Gurugram districts in Haryana State, adjoining the Indian capital.

Since July 31 it started and is still going on.

Massive attacks were carried out on the homes of Muslims.

A mosque was attacked and the imam of the mosque was shot dead.

Many Muslims were brutally tortured and many were beaten to death.

Unable to withstand the continuous attacks, thousands of Muslims are fleeing the area in great panic.

Instead of standing beside the tortured minorities, the BJP government in Haryana bulldozed several hundred Muslim homes and businesses in yet another instance of collective – and selective – punishment of a community over religious violence.

Reports say that before demolishing the ‘illegal’ structures, no notice was served in an act what is termed as the ‘tyranny of the government’.

This outrage by the BJP government towards the Muslims is not limited to Haryana State alone, several states in India where BJP in power witnessed bulldozers being deployed to destroy the properties of Muslims who were accused of participating in religious clashes, or other such charges.

In all incidents of communal violence including the one in Haryana, the victims are invariably Muslims and almost all of those who are arrested in connection with violence are also Muslims.

This is deplorable.
In the forums that receive international attention, Modi does not forget to utter his catch sentence: “Sabka saath sabka vikash” – meaning “prosperity of all with participation of all”.

But the ground reality in India during the last one decade is just the opposite.

In fact, as the head of India’s administration as well as Bharatiya Janata Party, he has let loose the communal beast deliberately to strengthen his position as a politician for which he is constantly facing criticisms both from saner section of people in India as well as outside.

Because of his divisive Hindutva politics that has bled India horrifically in the communal line, Narendra Modi should not hope to get a haloed place in history books written by the future historians.
