Vegetable fields damaged due to previous enmity at Goainghat

SYLHET: Farmer Salim Uddin in Goainghat upazila lamenting in the damaged vegetable garden.

Farmer Salim Uddin cultivated gourd, barbati, cucumber on 50 decimals land to bring prosperity to the poor family in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet. Due to , unknown a person cut down all the trees of his land in the dark of night.

The incident took place in Nayakhel village of Goainghat Upazila No. 5 East Alirgaon Union around 3 pm on Thursday.

On Friday (August 4), farmer Salim Uddin filed a written complaint at Goainghat police station.

Farmer Salim Uddin said that he planted gourd, barbati and cucumber seedlings on the 50th century land about two months ago with many dreams to bring prosperity to the family.

he has ignored the intense heat and worked hard to make the trees suitable for bearing fruit. As the garden was next to the house, there was no need for a guard at night.

On the day of the incident, at around 1 am, I went home at around 2 am like every day.

Later in the morning, he returned to the land and saw that about 1000/ of the land had been cut with gourds, barbs, and cucumbers.

Due to this, he has suffered a financial loss of about two lakh rupees.

He demand exemplary punishment for those who have done this harm to me today out of ancient enmity.

Goainghat Upazila Agriculture Officer Raihan Parvez Roni said that he has heard about the cutting of gourd, barbati and cucumber trees. He also demanded exemplary punishment to find those involved in the incident.”

In this regard, Goainghat police station officer in charge KM Nazrul said, He has received a complaint about cutting of gourd, barbati and cucumber trees.

The matter will be investigated and action will be taken against the culprits.

Until this report is written, farmer Salim Uddin is passing the day and night by contacting the local residents as well as the police station to find the culprits.
