Nat’l Guideline on Diabetes launches

National Guideline on Diabetes Mellitus was lunched at a hotel in Dhaka on Sunday.
Speakers of the programme said the diabetes has increased in Bangladesh alarmingly.
About 10 percent of the people have been suffering from diabetes in the country.
According to the latest data from the health authorities, about 8.5 million people suffer from diabetes in Bangladesh.
Most of the diabetes patients are sufferings from acute form of the disease for lack of proper guidelines on a national basis.
In these circumstances, a national guideline to control the further deterioration from the disease was highly important in the country.
In the wake of this, the health authorities have decided to publish a national guideline to combat diabetes. A team was formed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Professor Dr. Mohammad Robed Amin, Line Director, NCDC, DGHS, presided over the lunching ceremony.
Dr. Mohammad Robed Amin said the team members have worked hard for a year to prepare the national guideline.
“Finally, the guideline has been launched which would be highly helpful to both the patients and the physicians of our country,” Dr. Robed Amin said.
Akhtar Hussain, President of International Diabetes Federation, BADAS President Professor Dr. AK Azad Khan, Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Professor Dr. A.H.M. Enayet Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of Sylhet Medical University and Md. Saidur Rahman, Additional Secretary of the Health Ministry, among others, were present at the event.
The speakers said this guideline is certainly a great achievement in the health sector of the country.
They urged all to follow the guidelines properly to be safe from the harm of diabetes.
