Preparatory meeting held to observe Nat’l Mourning Day

Elaborate programmes have been taken to observe the National Mourning Day and 48th martyrdom anniversary of the Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dakshin Surma upazila on August 15.
Upazila Administration chalked out the day-long programmes marking the day at a preparatory meeting was held at the Conference Room of upazila Administration with( AC Land) Makhon Chanro Sutra Dar in the chair on Wednesday .
OC of Dakshin Surma Md Shamsudduha, AGM of Sylhet Polly Biddut Samity -1 Muntasir Mojumder, Dakshin Surma fire service officer Josim uddin, Journalist Nurul Islam and officials of various government departments, brave freedom fighters, teachers of educational institutions, political and social leaders, among others were present here.
The programmes include hoisting of national flag at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings, discussion meetings, placing wreaths at the monument of Bangabandhu, and screening of film and documentary on the life and works of Bangabandhu and offering special prayer and doa-mahfil at all religious institutions.
Officials and employees of different government and semi-government organisations will bring out mourning rallies and place wreaths at Bangabandhu Mural at Dakshin Surma Upazila office.
Apart from this, writing and painting competitions, poetry recitations, hymns, discussion and prayer will be held in various educational institutions. Qurankhani, prayer and discussion meetings in different madrasas, mosques and orphanages and special prayers will be held in various temples.
HSTU Correspondent adds: Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) has taken a month-long programme on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 48th martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day.
Some of the programmes are essay competition on Bangabandhu, speech competition based on the life of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, blood donation , quiz competition based on the book written by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
