Though the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) claimed that the dengue infection rate is remained stable in the capital compared to outside Dhaka, but a total of 12 more dengue patients died and 2,711 were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
A total of 273 people have so far been died due to the dengue outbreak this year.
“Even the busiest hospitals treating dengue patients in the capital now have many vacant beds for dengue patients,” DGHS Director (MIS) Professor Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain said during a virtual briefing on Wednesday.
The highest number of 489 dengue patients are currently admitted to Mugda Medical College Hospital with 600 beds designated for dengue patients, Shahadat Hossain said adding that Dhaka Medical College Hospital has the second highest number of dengue patients 348 now taking treatment.
He also said that almost all other hospitals in the capital have vacant beds.
According to DGHS release issued on Wednesday, the death toll from dengue has risen to 273 with the new additions, while 57,127 have been hospitalised this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data.
Of the new cases, 1,130 were reported in Dhaka city and the rest were from various parts of the country.
So far 47,529 dengue patients were released from hospitals in the country this year.
