Shakib powers Galle Titans to win over B-Love Kandy in LPL

An all-round performance by Shakib Al Hasan powered Galle Titans to achieve a resounding 83 runs win over B-Love Kandy in their T20 cricket match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) at the Ranasinghe Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Shakib Al Hasan hit a superb 30 from 21 deliveries with two sixes. Later, he bagged two wickets in the space of ten runs.
Electing to bat first, Galle Titans piled up a mammoth total of 180 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then, bundled out B-Love Kandy for only 97 runs in the 17.1 overs.
Galle Titans made a good start as the two openers Shevon Daniel Lasith Croospulle put on together 33 runs in the opening stand before Croospulle (11) was run out by Angelo Mathews.
One-down Bhanuka Rajapaksa (4) was dismissed by Amer Jamal when Galle’s score was 50 for the loss of two wickets.
After departure of Rajapaksa, Shevon Daniel could stay at the crease for a short period as he was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga when Galle’s total was 60 for the loss of three wickets.
Daniel scored 25 from 31 balls including three fours and a sixer.
After Daniel’s departure, second-down Tim Seifert and third-down Shakib Al Hasan salvaged their team from danger contributing together 95 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Shakib was unfortunately run out when Galle’s score was 155 for the loss of four wickets.
Tim Seifert was dismissed by Mohammad Hasnain when Galle’s total was 165 for the loss of five wickets. Seifert hammered a stormy 74. His 39-ball innings was ornamented with five sixes and five fours. Seifert was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding innings.
Mohammad Hasnain, Wanindu Hasaranga and Amer Jamal took one wicket apiece.
Later, Ashen Bandara was the only batter of B-Love Kandy who could resist the tight, controlled and superb bowling attack by the Galle’s bowlers. Bandara hit a notable 27. Kusan Rajitha, Richard Nagarava, Tabraiz Shamsi bagged a pair of wickets each instead of eight, 15 and 20 runs respectively.
Besides, Lahiru Samarakoon and Akila Dananjaya picked up one wickets each for eight and 21 runs respectively.
