Measure to promote girls edn in climate vulnerable areas stressed

A workshop was held at the Lalmonirhat Zila Parishad Auditorium on Sunday to promote girls’ education at the climate vulnerable areas. Non government organization ‘POPI’ and Disabled Rehabilitation and Research Association (DRRA) as members of the Bangladesh Education Champion Network (ECN) jointly organized the workshop, says a press release.
Executive Director of POPI Murshed Alam Sarker presided over the workshop while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Lalmonirhat Md. Afroza Khatun, Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jannat Ara Ferdous, Principal of Lalmonirhat Government College Md. Yusuf Ali, and In-Country Representative of Malala Fund Bangladesh Musharraf Tansen were present as guests.
Participants opinioned that urgent attention and collaborative action is needed to address the weaknesses in girls’ education due to climate change. They also stressed for building a sustainable future by working together and implementing innovative programs.
Representatives from government and non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, and development partners actively participate in the workshop. Through the scheduled sessions, participants exchanged useful knowledge and firsthand experiences, as well as proposed feasible solutions to the problems of girls’ education in climate-affected areas. The workshop provides an opportunity for discussion and brings together key stakeholders of Lalmonirhat and adjacent district engaged in tackling the difficulties of girls’ education in the context of a changing environment.
It is noted that in a rapidly changing world, the impact of climate change on girls’ education has become a critical concern, especially in countries like Bangladesh.
The workshop provided participants with an opportunity to explore practical approaches to empower girls in addressing climate challenges effectively.
