Over 100 Jamaat men arrested across country

At least 100 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have been arrested by the police across the country in last two days.
Ashraful Alam Emon, director of Jamaat Dhaka South’s publicity and media wing, claimed on Sunday night.
In Kishoreganj, at least 17 leaders and activists including Naib-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, were arrested in a special drive while preparing for the procession as part of the central programme last two days.
The leaders and activists arrested from Ekrampur area of the town on Sunday morning, while Naib-e-Amir in Kishoreganj district Principal Azizul Haque arrests on Saturday night., Our Kishoreganj reporter adds.
The other arrested have been identified as District Labor Welfare Federation President Khalid Hasan Jummon, Karimganj Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami former secretary Ataur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Working Council member Abdul Wahab, Bajitpur Upazila Branch President Abdul Hakim, Pakundia Upazila North Branch Secretary Saifullah Mansoor, Abdul Khalek, Abdur Rahman, Abu Saleh, Md. Mokhlesh, Md. Yasin, Faiz Uddin, Dr. Abdul Hai, Md. Zillur Rahman, Abdul Wahab and Shakib.
The police sources said they are arrested on charge of planning subversive activities in the areas.

The demonstration was organized by the Kishoreganj district branch as part of the program announced by the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami center to demand the release of Shafiqur Rahman and other activists, the establishment of the caretaker government system, and clerics and to control the rise in commodity prices.
In Pabna, Jamaat-e-Islami held a protest march in the district as part of its central program. When the procession tried to enter the city, they were obstructed by the police in Masum Bazar area. Five people have been arrested on the charge of vandalizing a police vehicle on the way back after the procession.
On Sunday (July 30), the procession started from the central bus terminal area of Pabna and faced police obstacles on its way to the city at Masum Bazar.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Sadar police station confirmed the matter and said that the arrested persons will be sent to the court with a case filed against them.
In Magura, Police arrested 30 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat in various upazilas including Magura Sadar.
Magura Additional Superintendent of Police Kalimullah said on Sunday afternoon that the BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists were planning and preparing for sabotage. On that information 30 people were arrested in raids across the district.
In Sirajganj, the police have arrested 3 leaders of Jamaat from Tarash Upazila on the charge of sabotage. They were arrested from Naogaon Bazar and Hamkuria of Magura Vinod Union of the upazila at around 8 pm on Saturday (July 29).
In Barguna, police arrested two leaders of Jamaat in the district. They were arrested on Saturday afternoon from Barguna Municipal Fish Market area.
