Promising batter Afif Hossain left the city on Sunday for Canada to take part in the Canada Global T20 League. Afif will play for Surrey Jaguars in Global T20 League. Afif Hossain got No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The Canada Global T20 League started on July 20 and will come to an end on August 6. The left-hand hard hitter will play in the rest of the matches of the Canada Global T20 League. Prolific batter Litton Das also has been playing for Surrey Jaguars.
Earlier, Afif Hossain played in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Last year he took part in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) for Jaffna Kings. Jaffna Kings emerged the champions in the LPL last year.
It may be mentioned that he was called by Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2019. But he could not take part in the CPL as he was busy with Bangladesh Cricket team in their schedule.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan played for Montreal Tigers in the Canada Global T20 League this year. But Shakib will not play rest of the matches of Montreal Tigers in the Canada Global T20 League. He will take part for Galle Titans against Dambulla Aura in the Lanka Premier League, which will be held today.
The coaching camp of Bangladesh Cricket team will start from today marking the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC World Cup. Afif Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad and Soumya Sarkar are the candidates to play in the Number-7 position as batter of Bangladesh Cricket team. Afif Hossain played for Bangladesh A Cricket team in four-dayer matches against West Indies A Cricket team recently. He led the second string of Bangladesh National Cricket team in that series. He also batted a T20 match against Afghanistan recently. He scored 24 runs playing 20 balls.
