15 MPs visited Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant

A total of 15 Members of Parliament including Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shamsul Haque Tuku MP visited Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction project on Wednesday (July 26) afternoon, During the visit of the MPs, a presentation was made by the Russian engineers involved in the project. According to engineers, the civil work of the country’s largest mega project could be completed by 2023 and other works by November 2024. .
After the visit, Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku said that through the construction of Rooppur nuclear power plant, it will be possible to meet hundred percent of the electricity demand in the country. Rooppur project will play the biggest role in meeting the demand of electricity in the economic zones adopted by the present government. The project will set a new record in the growth of the country and build a strong base for the economy once the power generation starts.
Led by Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku, MPs freedom fighters Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas, Shaheen Akhtar, Khaleda Khanam, Shireen Ahmed, Jinnatul Bakiya, Basanti Chakma, Shamsun Nahar, Nargis Rahman, Monira Sultana, Nadira Yasmin Jolly, Ratna Ahmed, Salma Chowdhury, Selina Islam And Dorothy Rahman was present during the visit.
The Deputy Speaker also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted a multifaceted plan for development. The completion of construction of 100 special economic zones across the country will increase the demand for electricity.
Then the 2,400 megawatts of electricity produced at the nuclear power plant will meet the needs of the industrial sector.
If the steps taken by the Prime Minister are implemented, Bangladesh will be anchored in the ranks of developed countries by 2041.
