One held along with copper cables

Md. Parvez Shaikh (24), a member of a gang of thieves was arrested along with more than 50 kgs earthling copper cables by a contingent of Rampal Ansar Battalion-3 after conducting a raid in the interior of Bangladesh-India Friendship Thermo Power Plant at Rampal under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday afternoon (at 3 pm), according to a delayed report received here. Arrested Parvez Shaikh is the son of one Md. Zafar Shaikh of village Proshadnagar under the Upazila.
Chandan Debnath, Commander, Ansar Battalion-3 disclosed, acting on secret information that a huge quantity of copper cables will be smuggled out from the interior of the Power Plant on Monday afternoon a squad of Ansar Battalion-3 conducted a raid in the interior of the Power Plant at 3 pm, arrested Md. Parvez Shaikh and recovered 107 pieces of earthing copper cables weighing more than 50 kgs from his possession.
The probable market price of the recovered copper cables is Tk.50 thousand. Chandan Debnath added, strict legal action will be taken against those who are involved in stealing of such valuable state properties and raid will continued in future. The seized copper cables and the arrested thief were handed over to Rampal PS. In this connection a case was lodge with the PS against the arrestee. It may be mentioned here that more than 58 such raids were conducted from the month of May, 2022 to update and various stolen valuable materials of the Power Plant worth Tk.85 lakh were recovered and some 49 smugglers were arrested so far.
