Shahab Uddin calls on citizens to plant a tree every year

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin has has urged every citizen of Bangladesh to take part in an essential initiative by planting at least one tree annually.
He made the remarks during the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the tree fair held at the forest department on Sunday, reports the media.
He said: “If everyone participates in this endeavour, the nation could witness the planting of approximately 100 million trees annually. Moreover, the government actively contributes to this noble cause by planting around eight crore trees yearly.”
Responding to the call of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the minister emphasizes the significance of planting more and more trees to create a healthier environment for both the present and future generations.
This year’s National Tree Fair recorded a total sale of 29,02,6,14 saplings from June 5 to July 12, valued at Tk14,81,69,000. The figures represent the highest number of saplings sold and revenue generated compared to previous years.
