BNP won’t join polls unless victory ensured: Quader

Staff Reporter  :
Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said BNP would not join the national election if it fails to get confirmation of victory.

He said also the BNP’s condition for participating in the next general election is unconstitutional.

“BNP’s demand is strange, weird and ridiculous. They have decided not to participate in elections unless they are guaranteed to win,” Obaidul Quader said.

“During the recent visits, the foreign delegates have said us nothing about the caretaker government or the BNP’s one-point agenda,” the minister said while addressing reporters at a news briefing at Setu Bhaban in Banani in the capital.

The Awami League leader said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s statement indicates the intent of violence and makes it clear that the party is walking on the path of unrest.

“They (BNP) want to disrupt peaceful elections. They are moving forward with the goal of terrorizing and foiling the polls,” Quader said.
