Fishermen fined for violating fishing ban

Coast Guard members detaining forty-six fishermen of four fishing trawlers and recovering 100 kg of sea fish netted in the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata coast fined about Tk 1.5 lac for violating imposed embargo.
Nazimpur Cost Guard Contingent Commander Matuir Rahman said they were detained on early Wednesday from Char Baji area of Kuakata coast in Bay of Bengal.
The detained fishermen alleged that they were beaten after arresting, but the Cost Guard official denied the allegation.
Then Kalapara upazila fishery officer Apu Saha collected a fine of Tk 1 lakh 39 thousand from 18 fishermen.
It was mentionable, during the restriction period imposed against the netting fish in the sea , large groups of fishing boats are engaged in fishing in the marine territory of Bangladesh coastal areas defying the ban.
