Foreign currency being earned by exporting safe mangoes

The Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP) funded by World Bank and PKSF has paved a way to do successful mangoes trading.
These activities include safe mango production by keeping environmental balance, extension on mango marketing, production of varieties that yield round the year and their export.
More than 2,000 small mango entrepreneurs are involved in these activities.
This project started towards the end of the year 2020 using the fund from World Bank and Palli Karmo Sahayok Foundation (PKSF).
Proyas Manobik Unnayan Society has been implementing the project.
Small entrepreneurs of SEP like SB Enterprise, North Bengal Agro Farms Limited, Agrovission and such other farms started exporting mangoes from the year 2021.
SEP sources said, the SEP aims at starting right technology by increasing environment-friendly sustainable culture in group-based small businesses, increasing marketing ability and producing exportable mangoes side by side with other varieties.
Under the project, use of chemicals is being discouraged and use of organic fertilizer, multiplication of the use of mangoes like producing jelly, powder and pure juice are being encouraged.
Different new varieties of mangoes like Miajaki, Chianmai, BARI-4, BARI-11, Sweat Katimon, Kingchakapat, Alfansa, Jinan and others are being produced in Chapainawabganj.
According to the project related officials, the exporters are being linked up with the small entrepreneurs. As a result, small entrepreneurs of SEP are getting the chance of exporting
mangoes to Canada, Sweden, Spain and other countries.
SEP project is expected to play a vital role in the production of mangoes, the concerned sourcessaid.
Small entrepreneur Shahadat Hossain of Gomostapur said, "I took training on producing safe mangoes after I had been involved in SEP project. Now I produce safe mangoes and export them to abroad. I have sofar exported 27,000 kg of mangoes with the help of SEP.& quot.
