Controversial people get BCL important posts

Some leaders and activists who were allegedly involved with robbery, sexual harassment and student torturing have been given posts in the central committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
The BCL announced the 301-member central committeeon Thursday.
Among the controversial men, Vice President Utpal Biswas, Tamanna Jasmine Riva, Saifullah Abbasi Ananta, Md Shahjalal, Al Amin Rahman, Sheikh Shamim Ahmed Turjo, Organizing Secretary Hasibul Hasan Shanto, Atnu Burman, Siam Rahman, Tanvir Shikder, Deputy Secretary of School Chattra affairs Tanjil A Alamin and Deputy Scientific Secretary Emdadul Hasan Sohag are mentionable.
But when contacted BCL president, he said allegations against the student leaders are not proven.
The law enforcers arrested Hasibul Hasan Shanto for his alleged involvement in proxy in Rajshahi University intake tests to undergraduate courses on May 2023 and later he was also expelled from BCL but in this central committee he has been nominated as organizing secretary.
Vice-president Utpal Biswas has been accused of beating up DU students on the grounds of Jagannath Hall during Saraswati Puja in 2017. Apart from this, Vice President Tamanna Jasmine Riva has been accused of torturing student in August 2022 and extortion also.
Md Shahjalal was accused of beating another female leader of the organization on DU campus and an arrest warrant was issued against him in December 2021, but he got the vice president post.
Besides, most of the people who involved in the attack on Chattra Dal on May 2022 and also accused of the case which has been filed by a female leader of Chattra Dal have been appointed to different position including Vice President Al Amin Rahman who is number-1 accused in this case.
Atanu Burman, who has been appointed as organizing secretary, allegedly beatup a student while riding a bike on DU’s Fuller Road on April, 2022.
Deputy Science Secretary Emdadul Hasan Sohag has been accused of extorting a businessman in Bangabazar. Based on this complaint, he was dismissed from the post of Amar Ekushe Hall Chhatra League in February this year.
Tanjil A Alamin who has been made Deputy Secretary of School Chattra affairs has been accused of threatening and showing indecent gestures by entering the bathroom of female students in a drunken condition at TSC.
BCL president Saddam Hossain however said that the allegations of those who are being called as accused in the new committee are not proven. They have not been convicted legally. If the allegations are proved then we will take appropriate action.
