Plantation campaign, Tree Fair inaugurated

Tree Plantation Campaign and Divisional Tree Fair was inaugurated in Sylhet on Thursday.
Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin was the chief guest at the opening ceremony organized by the Forest Department and with the cooperation of the District Administration at the Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa ground. In his speech, he said that there is no alternative to afforestation and tree planting to protect the country’s environment and socio-economic development of the people. The need for plantation drives and tree fairs is immense to create a habitable environment for future generations.
Acting Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Md. Zakaria, Additional DIG MA Jalil, Additional Police Commissioner Mu. Masud Rana, Additional Superintendent of Police Mahfuza Akhter Shimul, Additional Superintendent of Police of Armed Police Battalion. Mofizul Islam, Metropolitan Awami League General Secretary Professor Zakir Hossain also spoke here.
Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change mentioned the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for planting trees. Shahab Uddin said that on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5, the Prime Minister advised every citizen to plant at least three trees. He also said that the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate has planted 75 million trees in the financial year 2022-23 through the Forest Department to implement the instructions of the Prime Minister.
