Narcotics control officer sacked for robbery

Narcotics Control Directorate Officer Abdul Hamid has been charged with raiding the house of a private company official in Bhatara area of the capital. He is now in jail after his arrest. He has been suspended, the Narcotics Control Directorate said.
It has been alleged in the case that this robbery happened on June 6. On July 7, 54-year-old Abdul Hamid and his three accomplices were arrested in raids from various parts of the capital. They are Delwar Hossain (55), Jasim Uddin (25) and Zahid Hasan (24). Among them, Jasim and Delwar worked as sources for the Narcotics Control Directorate. Zahid is a driver by profession. Hamid was working in the Lalbagh circle of the Narcotics Control Department in Dhaka city.

Additional director general of the department Azizul Islam told the media that Abdul Hamid was dismissed from the job of the Narcotics Control Directorate after he was arrested in a robbery case. The whole matter is being investigated, he said.
