Habibullah Bahar College: Allegation of appointing junior teacher as acting principal

An allegation was raised over the appointment of acting principal of capital’s Habibullah Bahar College by the breaching of seniority.
It has been learnt that the governing body of the College appointed Md Rakibul Hoque as the acting principle though he was at the third position in the list of senior teachers.
It should be noted that there is a provisionof the education ministry to appointment the most senior teacher as a principal.
Talking on the issue, Hafez Kazi Ahamullah, who was first in list by seniority, said according to the education ministry’s provision issued in 2021, most senior teacher will be appointed as principal.
Most Colleges like Siddeshwari Girls College appointtheir most senior teacher as the principal. But in our College, the governing body appointed third senior teacher as principal.
College second most senior teacher Rizia Begum said we are in dark why the governing body appointed third most senior teacher as principal by denying two most senior teachers.
She said this appointment will impact in College discipline as junior teachers may disrespect the illegally appointed principal.
Over the issue, Habibullah Bahar College governing body chairman Mainuddin Hasan Chowdhury said there is a provision of National University that the governing body can appoint principal anyone from the list five most senior teachers.
He said the governing body thought that third most senior teacher Md Rakibul Hoque the most efficient, suitable and perfect person for the post of the acting principal. So the body decided to appoint him.
The chairman also denied any kind corruption and nepotism in the procedure.
