T-Aman cultivation begins in C’nawabganj

Farmers in the district have started Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) cultivation this season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) already fixed the target of T- Aman cultivation on 53,550 hectares of land with a production target 1,91,426 tonnes of rice in five upazilas.
So far, a total of 335 hectares of land has been cultivated, the sources said.
Of them, 10,205 hectares would be cultivated in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila with the production target of 36,536 metric tons of rice, 570 hectares in Shibganj upazila with the production target of 2,078 metric tons, 14,945 hectares in Gomostapur upazila with the production target of 51,876 metric tons, 22,825 hectares in Nachole upazila with the production target of 82,854 metric tons and 5,005 hectares in Bholahat upazila with the production target of 18,082 metric tons, the sources also said.
Incentive on synchronize T-Aman cultivation
BSS from Jamalpur adds: The Department of Agriculture (DAE) has taken 50 acres of land under synchronize T-Aman cultivation in Melandah Upazila in the district this Kharip-2 season.
According to the DAE office sources, the incentive amounting Tk 12 lakh 88 thousand was allotted to implement the programme.
Under the programme, a total of 50 acres of farm land at an area will be brought for the cultivation. In the land same variety of T-Aman crop will be cultivated which will benefit 50 to 150 farmers.
The government will provide seeds and fertilizer free of cost to the farmers. Besides, the government will bear all the cost of planting seedlings by rice transplantation machine and crop cutting by harvester machine.
Deputy Director of the DAE Zakia Sultana said the aim of the programme is to bring land under cultivation of same crop and same variety in a larger scale so that the farmers can use agriculture machineries in planting and harvesting crops in a same time. In this process the farmers can produce more crops with less cost, she added.
