Jackfruit going to different districts from Ishwardi

Ishwardi jackfruit has been valued in different parts of the country since ancient times. Litchi cultivation has increased tremendously in Ishwardi over the past few years. Jackfruit cultivation has decreased.
Being juicy and delicious, the value of jackfruit has not decreased. Jackfruit grows rapidly in Ishwardi due to the loamy sandy soil. Juicy and delicious jackfruit yield is obtained within a short period of time. The nutritional value of jackfruit is much higher than that of litchi and mango. Jackfruit is a safe food compared to other fruits. Jackfruit crop does not require fertilizer-pesticide-spray. Naturally produced. Due to environmental and natural reasons, there is no problem in jackfruit cultivation even if mango-litchi and other fruits are affected. That is why the farmers have expressed their opinion about the expansion of jackfruit cultivation in Ishwardi.
One of the largest jackfruit markets in the north is located in Ishwardi. A huge amount of jackfruit is supplied every year in different districts of the country during this season. There are jackfruit gardens in different areas of the upazila including Salimpur, Sahapur, Lakshikunda, Pakshi and Dashuria Union. The gardens are also abundant. Ishwardi’s biggest jackfruit market is held every day at Joynagar Board Office intersection of Salimpur Union. But this time the farmers are disappointed with the price of jackfruit as the price of mango is low.
It can be seen on the ground, after 12 noon, a huge amount of jackfruit was brought from various nearby villages by rickshaw-vans, battery-powered auto-rickshaws and steering cars to this market at the Jayanagar Board Office intersection. Wholesalers from different districts come to this market to buy jackfruit. Each car holds 1,200-1,500 pieces of jacks. Each jackfruit is being sold at the rate of Tk 50-150 depending on the size.
