YouTube talk-show participants liable for statements: SC

Staff Reporter  :
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday said the owners of private YouTube channels and their talk-show participants must take the responsibility of statements they make at their programs.

The apex court further said the speakers and the presenters of such talk-show programs should carefully speak about the state related issues.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique made the observation during the hearing on four petitions involving the bail of Jagannath University student Khadijatul Kubra in two separate cases filed under the Digital Security Act.

The cases were filed on charges of hosting a Facebook webinar where a guest speaker made contentious remarks.
