The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Wednesday the 16-member Bangladesh Women’s squad for the forthcoming three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against India Women’s Cricket team. Pacer Jahanara Alam and all-rounder Rumana Ahmed have been dropped from the squad. Bangladesh will take on India in the first T20I on July 9, Bangladesh will face India in the second T20I on July 11, Bangladesh will meet India in the third T20I on July 13.All the matches will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur. Besides, Bangladesh will play three One Day International (ODI) matches against India at the same venue. Bangladesh will play against India in the first ODI on July 16, Bangladesh will take on India in the second ODI on July 19, Bangladesh will meet India in the third ODI on July 22.
Nigar Sultana will lead Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team as the Captain , while Nahida Akter will assist her as the Vice-Captain.
It may be mentioned that many tournaments for men’s cricket team, many international matches, exhibition cricket meets have been staging in SBNCS, but no international matches of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team have not been taking place in SBNCS for a long time. Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team will play international matches at the SBNCS after 11 years. They played against South Africa Women’s Cricket team in a full-fledged series in the year of 2012.
The cricketers, who have been chosen, are: Nigar Sultana (Captain), Nahida Akter (Vice-Captain), Dilara Akter, Sathi Rani, Sobhana Mostary, Shamima Sultana, Murshida Khatun, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Disha Biswas, Marufa Akter, Sanjida Akter, Rabeya, Sultana Khatun, Salma Khatun and Fahima Khatun.
The stand-bys are: Lata Mondal, Fariha Islam, Sharmin Akter and Fargana Haque.
