Constable's death: Three muggers confess

Three snatchers were directly involved in the murder of traffic police constable Moniruzzaman Talukder at Farmgate in the capital, said Dr. Kh Mahid Uddin, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
He gave this information in a press conference at the media center of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday noon.
Two of the arrested persons have been identified Rabi (21) and Liton (21). And the name of the remaining one has not been disclosed by the DMP.
The police officer said that Constable Moniruzzaman was killed by snatchers in Farmgate area for robbery.
He also said that three snatchers attacked him with the intention of robbing. At this time policeman Moniruzzaman protested and tried to stop them. At that time, he was stabbed and robbed of his wallet and mobile phone.
Dr. Mahid Uddin said that before Eid, more than 1,000 snatchers were arrested in raids from different areas of the capital. In addition, DMP has arrested a total of 145 people in various areas of the capital in the last 48 hours.
He said that Dhaka Metropolitan Police has special security arrangements marking any festival. DMP organises a seamless security system around the streets, markets, shopping malls and Qurbani animal markets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
We have arrested three robbers involved in the murder of Constable Moniruzzaman in the last 48 hours. We were also able to seize the knife used in the murder. We still have some work to do in this case. However, we have managed to arrest those directly involved in the murder.
Regarding the victim Moniruzzaman, the Additional Commissioner of Police said, Constable Moniruzzaman did not take interest money from the Provident Fund. He was a very honest and devoted person. We are proud of him that there is such a constable in Bangladesh Police. He was only 40 years old.
