The Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned Swedish Charge d’Affairs Jakob Etaat stationed in Dhaka to protest the burning a copy of the Holy Quran outside a mosque by an extremist in Stockholm recently.
The ministry said they have strongly protested the incident after summoning the Swedish Envoy to the Foreign Ministry for such an act.
Earlier on Thursday, the ministry on its official Facebook page condemned the ‘deplorable act’.

“Bangladesh strongly condemns the despicable act of burning a copy of the Holy Quran yesterday outside a mosque in Stockholm,” the statement said. “Bangladesh expresses grave concern over such a heinous act of insulting the sacred values and religious symbols of the Muslims in the name of ‘freedom of expression,’ it read.

Bangladesh yet again urges all concerned to put an end to such unwarranted provocations for the sake of harmony and peaceful coexistence, the Foreign Ministry said.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and protest by the Muslim countries around the globe and the many of the countries including Iraq, Iran, Jordan and UAE summoned the Swedish envoys stationed in those countries and protested it.
