Staff Reporter  :
Yakub Ali Sumon, the husband of victim Mahbuba Akter Akhi who died days after her newborn due to medical negligence, has filed a complaint with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and sought a compensation of Tk 2 crore on Sunday afternoon.

In the written complaint, he sought justice for the death of Akhi and her newborn following an allegedly botched Cesarean section at Central Hospital.

The newborn passed away on June 10 in the afternoon, approximately 12 hours after the C-section, while Akhi succumbed to her injuries seven days later, on June 18, while being supported by life support.

Yakub has accused Central Hospital authorities and Dr Sangjukta Saha, his wife’s consultant, in the complaint. He alleged mistreatment and deception by the doctors and staff working under Sangjukta.

Moreover, he is seeking Tk2 crore in compensation for the deaths and demanding the formation of monitoring cells in all hospitals to prevent similar fatalities.
