Bangladesh Football team came from behind to beat Maldives Football team by 3-1 goals in their second Group-B match of the SAFF Championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, India on Sunday.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Lebanon by two goals to nil in their first Group-B match at the same venue on June 22.
Bangladesh will take on Bhutan in their last Group-B match at the same venue on June 28. The match will kick-off at 8.00pm. If Bangladesh win over Bhutan, Bangladesh have a bright chance to play in the semi-final.
The first half was locked 1-1.
Bangladesh took totally control against their stronger opponents Maldives and achieved the victory, which they deserved.
Hamja Mohammad of Maldives put his team ahead by a forceful shot out side the D-Box of Bangladesh in the 18th minute of the match. Maldives scored their goal against the way of the match.
Rakib of Bangladesh equalized the margin by header using a header of his teammate Topu which he got from a cross of his teammate Sohel Rana in the 42nd minute of the game.
After the lemon-break, Tariq Kazi made it 2-1 by a header in the 66th minute of the clash. Tariq got the ball from a flag-kick.
Morsalin sealed the fate of the match in the 90th minute of the game. Morsalin got the ball on his way from a pass of his teammate Bishwanath and Morsalin scored the goal by a spectacular shot after dodging past a defender of Maldives.
Earlier, Sohel Rana gave a through pass to his teammate Rakib in danger zone of Maldives but Rakib failed to hold the ball in the sixth minute of the match.
Sohel Rana’s header was gripped by Maldives goalie in the 11th minute of the match. Sohel Rana got the ball from a corner kick of Jamal Bhuyan.
Topu Barman’s header went over the crossbar in the 35th minute of the game. He got the from a corner kick of Jamal Bhuyan.
Topu Barman’s header was gripped by Maldives custodian in the goalline in 33rd minute of the match. Thus Bangladesh were deprived from a confirm goal. Topu found the ball from a corner kick of his teammate Sohel Rana.
Hamja Mohammad’s power-packed shot was bounced back from the sidebar in the injury time of the second half.
