People have started leaving the capital for their villages to celebrate upcoming the Eid-ul-Azha with their family members.

On Thursday, Bus terminals, railway stations and launch terminals were crowded with home-bound people.
The rush, however, is expected to intensify in coming days and reach its peak two days before Eid.

Meanwhile, the transport counters have declared that advance tickets for June 26-28 have already been sold out.

On Thursday, it was seen at the Gabtoli Bus Terminal in the city that many people started their Eid journey.

The counters are crowded and most of the buses are fully boarded and leaving the terminal. Many passengers are coming for advance tickets before Eid. However, as all tickets for June 26-28 have been sold, they had to return empty-handed.

The government holiday for Eid-ul-Azha is from June 27 to June 30.

However, many people have already started their journey facing the hassle of road congestion without tickets. Most of these passengers are students and housewives. Many others are leaving Dhaka early to buy sacrificial animals for Eid.

Ainul Khan Asif, the master of Sohag Paribahan’s counter at Gabtoli Bus Terminal, said: “From tomorrow onwards, passengers with advance tickets will return home. However, many have already started their journey today because they have to avoid the rush before Eid. As a result, our advance tickets are almost sold out. There are no vacant seats for June 26-28.”
