One lakh saplings to plant in Lohagara

To implement the “23 lakh in twenty-three years” initiative of the District Commissioner a discussion meeting was held on the initiative of Upazila Administration to plant one lakh tree saplings in Lohagara of Chattogram.
Chairman of Upazila Parishad Ziaul Haque Chowdhury Babul, Chairman of all Union Parishads, representatives of various NGOs, bank officials, representatives of civil society, heads of educational institutions, print and electronic media were attended the exchange meeting held in the Conference Room of Upazila Parishad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharif Ullah. Journalists were present. It was informed in the meeting that the Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated the National Tree Plantation Campaign on June 5. In this context, the District Commissioner of Chittagong Mr. Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman took an initiative to plant “23 lakh” trees in the entire Chittagong district. Each upazila has taken specific activities to implement this initiative. Out of 23 lakh trees, the upazila administration has confirmed that at least 1 lakh trees will be planted in Lohagara upazila. Under this program, every student of all schools, colleges, madrasas of the entire upazila will be given at least one sapling, so that they plant in their homesteads and take proper care of them. Moreover, plantation of various types of fruits, forest and medicinal plants at suitable places including courtyards of various educational institutions, government private land, on both sides of various roads, shelter projects, around newly constructed playgrounds.
