Whole nation united to oust govt: BNP

Staff Reporter :
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said that, the whole nation is now united to oust the government as they want a free and fair election which is not possible under this regime.

“There is no alternative to change this government. We must not go to election under this government.

The people of the country is determined to oust Awami League from power and form a caretaker government through a tough movement,” Mirza Fakhrul said, while addressing a discussion meeting at a city hotel in Gulshan in the capital.

The BNP leader said, “the current Prime Minister and the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina said in 2006 that, ‘make the caretaker system effective for keeping the constitutional pace okayed.’ Now She ignored the system only to avoid fair election.”

He said, all the opposition political parties are now become united in one point demand and that is forming caretaker government soon for conducting free and acceptable national polls.

“So, it does not matter that the government showed its objection to the system. The people must realise the caretaker government system for the sake of restoring their voting rights,” the BNP leader said.

“We want resignation of this government. We want dissolve of this parliament and formation of a non partisan government soon,” he reiterated.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the programme while BNP Standing Committee Members Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moeen Khan, Goeswar Chandra Roy, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Selima Rahman, Kalyan Party President Maj. General (Rtd) Muhammad Ibrahim and Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna were, among others, who addressed the occasion.
