Youth gets life imprisonment in drug case

A court has sentenced a youth to life imprisonment in a drug case in Tangail. In the same case, one person was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment and another youth who was found innocent in the case was acquitted by Additional District Sessions Judge Second Court Judge Mohammad Mostafa Shahriar Khan. He announced this verdict on Tuesday afternoon.
Convicted Mizanur Rahman is the son of Fazlul Karim of Ahaliapara village of Nalua village of Sakhipur upazila of the district. Rusel Mia (25) son of late Abul Mia of the same village sentenced to two years imprisonment and Pavel Mia (25) son of Abdur Karim of Jadavpur village of the same upazila acquitted in the case.
Additional PP of Tangail Khorshed Alam said that Detective Police (DB) of Tangail raided Nalua Ahaliyapara area of Sakhipur on June 2, 2019 and seized 1,000 pieces of Yaba and 150 grams of heroin from convict Mizanur Rahman. Besides, they seized 100 pieces of Yaba and 10 grams of heroin from Rusel. In this incident, District DB (North) Deputy Inspector Nuruzzaman filed a case in the name of 5 people as the plaintiff.
After the investigation, Shabed Ali, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sakhipur police station filed a charge sheet against accused Mizanur Rahman, Rusel Mia and Pavel Mia on July 31, 2019. Hasimul Akhtar and Zaban Ali Khan assisted the case for the state. Senior lawyer Advocate Golam Mustafa Mia handled the case on behalf of the accused.
