India A Women’s Cricket team emerged the champions of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup defeating Bangladesh A Women’s Cricket team by 31 runs in the final at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok of Hong Kong on Wednesday. Bangladesh became runners-up of the meet.
Electing to bat first, India scored a fighting total of 127 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs and then all out Bangladesh for 96 off 19.2 overs.
India made a good start as their two openers Shweta Sehrawart and U Chetry added 28 runs for the opening partnership before Shweta (13) was bowled out by Nahida Akter.
U Chetry was bowled out by Rabeya Khan when India’s total was 43 for the loss of two wickets.
One-down Dinesh Vrinda was her team’s most successful batter. She notched up a polished 36. Her 29-ball innings was laced with five fours and a sixer.
Third-down Kanika Ahuja remained unbeaten with 30 runs. Her 23-ball knock was belted with four fours. Later, Kanika Ahuja bagged two wickets each at the cost of 23 runs. She was adjudged the Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
U Chetry made 22 from 20 balls featuring two fours and a sixer.
Nahida Akter and Sultana Khatun bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 13 and 30 runs respectively.
Rabeya Khan and Sanjida Akter Meghla took one wicket each for 14 and 26 runs respectively.
Later, Bangladesh batters failed to build any notable partnership.
Nahida Akter, Sobhana Mostary and Shathi Rani could reach the double digit figures.
Nahida Akter remained unbeaten with 17 runs. Her 22-ball innings had one four.
Sobhana Mostary made 16 from 22 deliveries including two fours.
Shathi Rani scored 13 from 11 balls with two fours.
Shreyanka Patil captured four wickets in the space of 13 runs, while Mannat Kashyap grabbed three wickets at the cost of 20 runs and Titas Sadhu got one wicket for 14 runs.
