The National Vitamin-A Plus Campaign was inaugurated in Nagar Bhavan premises by Mymensingh City Corporation on Sunday.
Chief Executive Officer of Mymensingh City Corporation Md Yusuf Ali launched the campain. The target was to feed Vitamin-A capsules to 67,000 children.
Under this campaign, 9 thousand 430 children aged 6 to 11 months were given one blue colored vitamin-A capsule and 57 thousand 673 children aged 12 to 59 months were given one red colored capsule in 5 permanent and 301 temporary centers from 08 am to 4 pm.
Inaugurating the campaign, the Chief Executive Officer of MOSIK said that Mymensingh City Corporation has been successfully implementing EPI, Vitamin-A plus campaign, worm control etc. Mymensingh City Corporation has taken all preparations to make this campaign successful.
Under the guidance of Mayor Md. Ikramul Haque Titu, other public representatives of the City Corporation, officials and various NGOs are working to implement these activities. He also said that measures have been taken to distribute leaflets, mike, promote through social media etc. on the occasion of the campaign.

Sr. Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj reports : The national Vitamin A plus campaign was underway across the country on Sunday aiming to feed Vitamin A-plus capsules to children aged from six months to 59 months.
In Kishoreganj, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Abul Kalam Azad formally inaugurate the vitamin A plus campaign at Kishoreganj General Hospital on Sunday morning, while Civil Surgeon (CS) dr. Saiful Islam in the chair.
Police Super ( SP) Mohammad Rasel Sheikh PPM (Bar), Supereminent in Kishoreganj 250 beded general hospital Dr. Noor Md.Shamsul Alam were special guests.

CS in Kishoreganj, Dr. Saiful Islam said that there’s no problem over the quality of Vitamin-A Plus capsules. Some of the capsules, have been brought from abroad.” The rate of children’s night-blindness in the country has come down below one percent and it will be brought to zero level, CS Dr.Saiful added.
BSS from Khulan says: The National Vitamin-A Plus Campaign aiming to eradicate blindness and prevent the death of malnutrition-related children was inaugurated here today at Surjer Hasi Clinic premises in the city.
Mayor elected of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the event as chief guest while Laskar Tajul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of the KCC was in the chair.
A total of 1,17,057 children in Khulna city have been targeted to be fed vitamin ‘A’ capsules. Among them, the number of children from aged 6-11 months is 13,573 and 12-59 months is 1,03,484.
Besides, a total of 1,88,747 children of nine upazilas and two municipalities of Khulna district have been targeted for feeding the vitamin ‘A’ capsules.
All children aged 6-11 months will be given one blue colored vitamin ‘A’ capsule and one red colored vitamin ‘A’ capsule will be given to all children aged 12-59 months through the National Vitamin ‘A Plus Campaign’ across the country.
The campaign was conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the assistance from the UNICEF.
The chief guest said that vitamin ‘A’ capsule has been helping in increasing the normal structure of the child’s body. This capsule not only prevents malnutrition-related blindness of the children but also boosts up the immunity.
Among others, the event was addressed by councilors Imam Hasan Chowdhury, Kanika Saha and Chief Health Officer of KCC Swapan Kumar Halder.
Chief Health Officer of the KCC delivered the welcome speech while Deputy Director of Khulna Divisional Health Department Dr. Ferdousi Akhter, UNICEF representatives also spoke on the occasion.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Experts in a function have said providing Vitamin A Plus Capsule to under-five children is crucial to increase their disease resistant capacity for normal growth, prevent night blindness and many other ailments.
They made the observation at the inaugural ceremony of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 18 June-2023 at City Bhaban premises.
The campaign is being conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning.
Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman launched the campaign by administering Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Capsules to some under five babies as the chief guest.
Panel Mayor-1 of Rangpur Md Mahbubar Rahman Monju presided over the function.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr ABM Abu Hanif, Deputy Commissioner Dr Chitralekha Nazneen, Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Kabir, Secretary of Rangpur City Corporation Ummey Fatima, its Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hassan Mridha and Chief Health Officer Dr Md Kamruzzaman Ibn Taj were present.
Dr Kamruzzaman narrated the importance of continuation of Vitamin A supplementation for the under-five babies to strengthen their immune system and disease resistance capacity for their healthier growth.
“Some 594 health workers and volunteers under supervision of 44 supervisors are expected to provide Vitamin A Plus capsules to 1,29,500 under-five babies at 297 outreach centers in all 33 wards of the city from 8 am to 4 pm today,” he said.
