Journo Nadim murder case: UP Chairman Babu remanded for 5 days

A Jamalpur court yesterday placed UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, allegedly mastermind of the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim, on a five-day remand in the murder case.
Two other accused of the murder- Rezaul Karim and Moniruzzaman Monir alias Monirul were put on four-day remand each, while another accused Zakirul Islam was placed on a three-day remand, says a lawyer of Jamalpur court.
Jamalpur’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Tanvir Ahmed passed the order after police produced the four accused in his court with seven-day remand prayer for each, said complainant’s lawyer Md Yusuf Ali while talking to the media.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Anisul Huq said the case filed over the murder of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim will be sent to the Speedy Trial Tribunal for ensuring fair trial within quickest possible time.
“I want of assure you that justice will be ensured in this case,” the Minister said while replying to gueries from reporters, after attending a meeting organized on the occasion of the inauguration of a training course for the just posted Judicial Magistrates and Metropolitan Magistrates at the Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in the capital.
The Law Minister also said the present government has established justice and rule of law in the country as it has completed the trials of many important cases including the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman assassination case, jail killing case and the Crimes against Humanity and War Crime cases.
The trial of Bangabandhu assassination had been blocked promulgating the Indeminity Ordinance on September 26, 1975, he said.
