The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Sunday the 15-member Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the ensuing two-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Afif Hossain has been included in the squad. Pacer Ebadot Hossain also has been included in the squad.
Zaker Ali has been dropped from the squad. Afghanistan Cricket team will arrive in the city on July 1 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and two T20I matches. Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the first ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on July 5, face Afghanistan in the second ODI at the same venue on July 8, meet Afghanistan in the third ODI at the same venue on July 11. After playing the ODI matches, Bangladesh team and Afghanistan team will reach Sylhet two play two T20I matches at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the first T20I on July 14, the Tigers will face Afghanistan in the second T20I on July 16.
Afif Hossain showed a superb performance in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League Cricket 2023. Afif scored 615 runs playing 15 matches. His average was 43.93 and his strike rate was 113.05.
The players, who have been included in the T20I squad, are : Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Litton Das, Rony Talukdar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Rishad Hossain and Afif Hossain.
