Rain brings much-needed relief in Dhaka

News Desk :
Following days of severe heat and humidity, Dhaka on Friday experienced a much-needed downpour, bringing comfort to the city dwellers.

Throughout the day, the city was engulfed in an uncomfortable muggy heat.

The sky remained clouded for nearly the entire day, with glimpses of the sun only occasionally visible.

As evening fell, the city was suddenly shrouded in darkness. Subsequently, around 7pm, the anticipated rain commenced.

The rain, initially light, quickly escalated into a heavy downpour, completely soaking the streets of Dhaka.

As the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, the Bangladesh Meteorological
Department on Friday morning predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind at most places in Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions; at many places in Rangpur, Dhaka and Barisal divisions; and at one or two places in Khulna and Rajshahi division, with heavy to very heavy falls at places across the country except Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.

The met office forecast that the mild to moderate heatwave that was sweeping across Rajshahi division and the districts of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Jessore, Chuadanga and Kushtia may abate due to the rain.

According to the bulletin, day temperatures may remain nearly unchanged in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna divisions, and may fall slightly elsewhere in the country. Night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
