10 shops gutted in Rampal

As many as 10 business establishments were completely gutted when a devastating fire broke out in Sonai village market under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district at mid night recently according to a delayed report received here.
The affected shop-keepers and others informed that at the mid night the fire originated from a short circuit took place in the electronic goods-shop belonging to one Ebadul Haq, spread to the adjacent shops within moments and went out of control. Being informed of the matter a fire fighting unit rushed from Rampal Fire Service Station to the spot and brought the fire under control after a long fighting for 3 hours. In spite of that all the ten shops were burnt to ashes along their all belongings. The loss of fire on a primary assessment is more than Taka ten (10) crors. The gutted shops included electronic goods, computer shops, groceries etc.The fire affected shop-keepers who lost everything due to the fire urged upon the Government to extend its helping hands towards them to make up their losses to some extent.
On the other hand, 3 fire fighters were sustained severe burn injuries on their person when a drum of oil was burst out. They are Isabul Molla (35), Tutul Sarkar (25) and Abdul Kader Joni (24). They were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hosptal for their treatment.Another report states that properties worth Tk.8 lskh were lost when a poultry farm situated in the village Prosadnagar under the same Upazila recently, it was disclosed by S M Ashrafujl Alam, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS.
