Jaya Ahsan or Swastika in Ghaseti Begum’s biopic

Ghaseti Begum was the aunt of Sirajudaula, the last independent Nawab of Bengal, who inherited a great deal of wealth from her husband. Not only that, she was one of the most influential women in Bengal at that time.
Ghaseti Begum was at the root of all the conspiracies behind the defeat of Sirajuddaula by the British in the Battle of Plassey. This is why many have added the title of ‘traitor’ to Ghaseti Begum. But it
has been claimed that she accepted this conspiracy without her knowledge.
Now the plan to make biopic of Ghaseti Begum is going on in Tollywood. It will be directed by Arjun Dutt. And who will play the role of Ghaseti Begum? In such rumors, the names of the two have been everywhere. Bangladesh’s Jaya Ahsan
and Kolkata’s Swastika Mukherjee
are ahead in the lead roles.
Earlier, Swastika Mukherjee acted in Arjun Dutt’s ‘Guldosta’ and ‘Shrimati’. So says a Tollywood source, the director’s choice for this character is Swastika. Another source says that thinking about the subject of the movie, this proposal went to Jaya Ahsan. Pauli Dam’s name is heard again in this role. But the rumours are heavily towards Jaya Ahsan. She is more suitable in this role. Because Jaya’s look is more suitable with the period of the movie and the Nawab of Bengal at that time, believe makers of the movie.
But in the end, who will be seen in the character of Ghaseti is not yet final.
A source told the Indian media that the director has researched this biopic for a long time. However, due to the problem with the budget of the movie, it is taking more time.
A few years ago, director Raj Chakraborty announced the making of a movie about Sirajuddaula. But even in that case
the budget was in the way.
Meanwhile, Jaya Ahsan is now spending busy time in Kolkata with the promotion of the newly released movie ‘Ardhangini’.
The movie was released in theaters of
West Bengal on June 2.
