US envoy, BNP discuss election process

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday met US Ambassador Peter Haas in a sudden visit.
The BNP Secretary General went to the Gulshan residence of the US Ambassador at about 1:10pm.
Sources said Mirza Fakhrul came out of Peter Haas’s residence after 2:30pm.

The BNP sources refuse to disclose details over the sudden visit of the party’s Secretary General.
Meanwhile, US Embassy said on a twitter post that the election process was discussed in the meeting.
“They discussed free and fair elections and campaign processes, and additional important priorities the United States and Bangladesh share,” the US Embassy in Dhaka said in the twitter post.
Besides, the US Embassy in Dhaka in a Facebook post said they discussed the importance of free and fair elections and a nonviolent political process.
